Spanish American War Veteran - Cuba Service Canteen with Strap

This Indian Wars / Spanish American War Canteen with Strap belonged to Corporal Ross E. Conrad 6^th Ohio Volunteer Infantry  Company H.  From the Roster: “Age 20. Mustered in as Private.  Appointed Corporal July 1 1898.  On detached service at Camp of 6^th O.V.I. near Cienfuegos, Cuba March 23 to April 8, 1899 as Regimtl. Post Master per S. O. No. 59.”  Conrad is buried in Stateline Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio.

Both are in very good original condition overall.  No open seams.  No dents.   Leather strap is original and correct and has a period repair.  Leather is soft and pliable with both keepers.  Stopper is complete with chain.
