PFC Charles Monroe Taylor, a foot soldier of the US Army from Enid Oklahoma, landed on Utah Beach during the invasion at Normandy.  His unit followed behind Patton throughout France and into Germany until the end of the war.  At some point an abandoned German convoy was discovered.   Apparently it had been disabled by an air attack.  It is from one of the supply trucks in the convoy that PFC Taylor liberated these two flags and brought them home.  Both flags have been safely stored in his family's cedar chest until now.
