Patented July 9, 1861 and so marked. Cloth covering is gone and only part of the
original leather sling remains. All caps and
chains are present. No filters. All seams are intact.
No rust. One very small dent
shown on front. Brass patent date applied
plate is in perfect condition. This is a very
rare canteen and seldom seen in such fine condition. This
canteen has not been cleaned and is in "as found" condition.
